Lars and the Unreal Girl (Larger Photo)

The title of this photo refers to the movie Lars and the Real Girl, a psychological drama set in Canada. It features a face 4 body 2 Realdoll named Bianca. (Caroline is a face 5 body 7 Realdoll.) The Lars Lindstrom character is said to be based on me, although his inability to form sexual relationships has an extreme manifestation and the story of his doll experience is very different from mine.

I normally demand action in movies (James Bond, Thunderbirds, Starship Troopers) and the Lars movie has no real action, yet its pace is fast and, even in the deliberately peaceful sequences, it is gripping. It is like a book you cannot put down. The nearest thing to an action sequence is towards the end where, in a long distance shot across a lake, you do not even see what actually happens! Then you realize (if your experience of the movie is like mine) the detail of the event does not matter. You need only assume the broad gist of what is supposed to happen, what in fact must happen as demanded by the virtual script in Lars' subconcious.
